LaGuardia Airport reopens after accident involving Air Canada aircraft

LaGuardia Airport reopened at 3 p.m. (BSB) after closing due to the fatal collision between an Air Canada plane and a fire truck.

New York’s second largest airport is expected to reopen with just one runway, according to the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) operations plan.

Much of the wreckage from the crash remained on the roadway as National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) officials began repairs.

In a statement on X, the airport said that “as operations resume, travelers should wait.”

So far, there have been almost 600 cancellations at the airport this Monday (23), and the largest airline there, Delta Airlines, has warned passengers that additional changes to flight schedules may occur.
