Aldi Portugal will open its first store in the municipality of Valença next Thursday, March 27, in a debut for the brand in that area of Alto Minho. The new supermarket is located on Avenida Miguel Dantas and represents another step in the chain’s expansion plan in the North of Paraná.
The opening was announced this Monday by the company, which highlights the arrival of the brand in a municipality considered strategic, thanks to its location and proximity to the Spanish border.
According to Aldi, cited by , the new commercial area aims to reinforce the food retail offer in the region, providing residents and visitors with a simple and quick shopping experience, with fresh, high-quality products at low prices.
Fifteen jobs and social support
The company says that the opening of the store will allow the creation of 15 new jobs, with local recruitment being given priority.
In addition to the impact on employment, the retailer also highlights the social aspect of the project. Surplus food from the new store will be donated to Re-Food Vila Nova de Cerveira.
The same note also says that the investment included the requalification of the surrounding space, with improvements in terms of access to the new commercial unit.
According to the information released, the supermarket will have a sales area of more than 1000 square meters.
The space will have 84 parking spaces, including three designated for people with reduced mobility.
Charging points for electric vehicles are also available and the installation of photovoltaic panels is planned, with a focus on energy efficiency.
Expansion continues in the North
Quoted in the statement, João Braz Teixeira, Managing Director Expansion and Real Estate at Aldi Portugal, explains that the expansion plan for 2026 is focused on investment in the North region, especially in areas with strong attractiveness and dynamism.
The manager considers Valença to be a key municipality in Alto Minho, precisely because of its strategic location, good access and direct connection to Spain.
With this opening, Aldi now has four stores in the Viana do Castelo district, reinforcing its growth and proximity strategy.
Special campaign on opening day
To mark the opening, the brand prepared several promotional initiatives for customers who visit the new store on the first day.
Among the planned offers is a five-euro discount voucher on a future purchase equal to or greater than 25 euros.
Visitors will also be able to receive plants and reusable bags, in addition to participating in a welcome coffee with Barissimo coffee tasting.
