Séqua Tours, a historic maritime-tourist transport company based in Tavira, is entering a new phase of dynamism, marked by a renewed strategy and diversification of its offer.
Founded in 1990 by José Henriques, Séqua Tours has established itself over the decades as a reference in water taxi services in the Ria Formosa, having also explored land tourist transport through tuk-tuks in the city.

Recently, management passed to Pedro Galhardo and Gabriel Gonçalves, who now take on the challenge of modernizing and expanding the activity. The team also counts on the contribution of Rafael Fragata, whose speech has been decisive in the development of strategic partnerships.
Maritime experiences reinforce connection to nature
Focused on maritime-tourist tours, Séqua Tours operates throughout the year in the Ria Formosa, promoting experiences that allow visitors to explore emblematic places such as Ilha de Tavira, Cabanas de Tavira and Terra Estreita. To this end, the company has three vessels, one with capacity for nine passengers and two with capacity for six, guaranteeing a more personalized and closer service.

Among the experiences provided, nature observation tours stand out, including species such as seahorses, dolphins and, occasionally, orcas, benefiting from authorization for navigation outside the bar. The company thus intends to value not only the natural landscape, but also the educational and interpretative component of the territory.
Partnerships and new projects focus on sustainability
In a logic of complementarity of the offer, Séqua Tours recently established a partnership with “A Maria Tuk-Tuk”, creating a connection between sea routes and land tours. The objective is to provide an integrated experience, presenting the city of Tavira, the Gilão river, Arraial Ferreira Neto and local history, strongly linked to the sea.

Among the new projects, the company also plans to invest in the organization of events with a socio-pedagogical aspect, such as environmental awareness actions and garbage collection on beaches, reinforcing the commitment to sustainability. At the same time, it intends to boost experiences such as “sunset” tours, inviting tourists to contemplate the sunset from the sea.
With more than three decades of history, the company now seeks to assert itself as a complete tour operator, combining tradition, innovation and a strong connection to the region’s natural and cultural heritage.
