Ministry announces almost 42 billion investments in transport modes

The Ministry of Ports and Airports announced, this Tuesday (24), the investment of R$41.7 billion, coming from the Merchant Marine Fund portfolio, in various modes of transport, including 890 works.

The portfolio includes projects in the naval industry and port infrastructure.

In a statement, the ministry stated that 612 vessel constructions, 115 repair and docking services, 141 modernizations are planned, in addition to the implementation of six shipyards, 13 port projects and three transshipment terminals.

Furthermore, the initiatives involve 62 benefiting companies and 32 shipyards.

“The numbers show the strength of this public policy. We went from R$22.8 billion in approved projects to more than R$87 billion in the current cycle, in addition to significant growth in hiring. This translates into more employment, more competitiveness and the strengthening of the Brazilian naval industry”, said the minister of the portfolio, Silvio Costa Filho.

Investments are distributed across the country, with R$14.1 billion being invested in the South, R$11.9 billion in the Northeast, R$10.4 billion in the Southeast and R$5.3 billion in the North.

In the South, the Bram Offshore project in Santa Catarina stands out, estimated at R$2.6 billion; that of Wilson Sons, in the Southeast, of R$1.1 billion; that of DOF Subsea, in Bahia, with an investment of R$2.8 billion and expected 1,460 jobs; and the Amapá Logistics Platform, in the North region, worth R$ 1.5 billion.

According to the national secretary of Waterways and Navigation, Otto Luiz Burlier, the portfolio also contributes to strengthening inland navigation and expanding access to regions where rivers are essential for mobility and supply.

“This advance also directly impacts waterways, with more investments in vessels and infrastructure that guarantee greater navigation safety and regular transport. In many regions, especially in the North, rivers are the population’s true roads”, he stated.
