The president of PSD, Gilberto Kassabpublished a note on social media this Monday (23) stating that the party remains firm with its project of presenting a candidacy for president for this year’s elections.

The statement comes after Ratinho Junior, governor of Paraná and one of the party’s pre-candidates, . Kassab praised Ratinho’s management and said that it is considered “the best in history”. He also said that the alternative that the party will provide will be the “best way” and will oppose the “polarization of radical proposals”.

The text also makes reference to the governors of Rio Grande do Sul, Eduardo Leite, and of Goiás, Ronaldo Caiado, both pre-candidates for president, as “well evaluated”. Kassab also reinforced that the candidate must be chosen by the end of March.

Ratinho Jr. withdrew from running for President of Brazil. “Governor Ratinho Junior decided to complete his term in Paraná by December of this year”, says the text. “Therefore, he no longer participates in the internal discussion of the PSD (Social Democratic Party), which will choose a candidate willing to run in this year’s presidential elections”, he adds.
