Senator stated irregularities and losses of R$7 billion at the state-owned company; Court attached representation to existing process
O decided not to suspend negotiations on a loan of up to R$20 billion intended for as requested by the senator and presidential pre-candidate (PL-RJ). He took action due to suspected irregularities and requested the suspension of the credit operation.
The plenary justified the rejection of the request by indicating that “there is still no formalized administrative act on the matter that constitutes a concrete object of assessment by the Court in terms of precautionary action”. Read the (PDF-103kB).
The senator’s representation was not denied by the Court, but was attached to another ongoing process. “Monitoring of the situation and possible credit operations guaranteed by the Union is being carried out within the scope of TC Process 021.622/2025-6, which will support the analysis of the accounts”declared the Court.
According to the Flávio Bolsonaro questioned the reasons for the state-owned company’s losses, which total R$7 billion between 2024 and 2025. The document states that “acts carried out by agents linked to the Ministry of Finance, the National Treasury, the Civil House of the Presidency of the Republic and the ECT show the possible occurrence of serious irregularities and/or illegalities related to the credit operation in the negotiation phase, estimated at up to R$20 billion”.
The representation detailed the evolution of Correios’ losses: “In just 2 years, the signs of collapse intensified: the state-owned company’s accumulated loss in 2024 was R$2.6 billion. In 2025, in the first half of the year alone, the company reported an alarming deficit of R$4.4 billion, surpassing the entire loss from the previous year”the document stated.
