Air Force C-130 Hercules crashed in Puerto Leguízamo, Amazon region, with 125 people on board; 48 are injured
A Colombian Air Force plane in Puerto Leguízamo, the Amazon region of southern Colombia, on Monday morning (23 March 2026). The accident occurred shortly after takeoff. There were 125 passengers, 114 passengers and 11 crew. According to the international news agency AFP8 people died.
The country’s Combat Air Command operates the rescue. There is also a team on site to investigate the circumstances of the accident.

The Hercules C-130 aircraft model has the capacity to transport up to 150 people. According to the Air Force General, Carlos Silva Rueda, the following were mobilized:
- 74 beds to transport the injured;
- 3 planes;
- 1 medical helicopter.
Defense Minister Pedro Sánchez expressed his regret on social media: “All care protocols were activated for the victims and their families, as well as the corresponding investigations to determine the causes of the accident”.
Sánchez classified the event as a difficult moment for the nation and sent condolences to the families of those affected by the accident.
“It is a deeply painful event for the country,” declared.
