Barbara Petritsch will be appointed the new doyenne of the Vienna Burgtheater on April 16th. She succeeds Elisabeth Orth, who died in May of the previous year. The 81-year-old has been a member of the Burgtheater ensemble since 1999 and has since appeared in around 60 productions. In 2022 she was awarded the professional title of chamber actress. Now she will also receive honorary membership of the Burgtheater at a ceremonial award ceremony.
