Rescue teams located a dog alive under the rubble of a building in Caracas, Venezuela, days after the earthquakes that hit the country. The rescue was announced on Sunday (28) by the Presidency of El Salvador, which is participating in the humanitarian operation sent to the Venezuelan capital.
A video published by the Salvadoran government shows rescuers working in a narrow space as they call out for the animal, which responds with barks before being pulled from the wreckage.
By sharing the images on social media, the president of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, reported that the puppy appeared to be in good health and made an appeal to locate the owner.
“We don’t know his name, but he is in excellent health. If anyone is the owner, please contact our teams and show a photo or video on your cell phone so we can hand him over,” wrote Bukele on the X network.
The rescue took place as the search for survivors continues in the areas most affected by the two consecutive earthquakes, of magnitudes 7.2 and 7.5, that hit Venezuela last week.
According to the authorities’ most recent report, released on Monday (29), the death toll exceeded 1,700. Around five thousand people were injured, and hundreds of buildings were destroyed or suffered structural damage.
