The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) on Tuesday accused the United States and Israel of the attack on the Bushehr nuclear power plant. The projectile is said to have hit the area of the object, but did not cause any damage, TASR writes, according to a report by the AFP agency.
“The American-Zionist enemy attacked the Bushehr nuclear power plant again,” AEOI stated. “According to initial reports, this incident did not cause any financial or technical damage, nor did it claim any lives, and several parts of the power plant remained undamaged,” added.
The organization said that attacks on nuclear facilities represent “a clear violation of international regulations regarding the immunity of such centers from military action” and warned of “dangerous consequences for regional security, especially for countries along the Persian Gulf.”
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said on the X social network that Iran informed her of the attack and again called for maximum restraint in order to avoid risks. This is the second such case in recent weeks. A projectile hit the power plant site already on March 17. No casualties or damage were reported in this incident either.
The Bušehr power plant is located approximately 760 kilometers south of Tehran and is the only functional nuclear reactor of the Islamic Republic. It was first connected to the electricity grid in 2011, according to the IAEA.
