Bocalom announces revitalization of Praça dos Tocos and two other spaces

The mayor of Rio Branco, , visited Praça dos Tocos, in the center of Rio Branco, this Tuesday (24), and highlighted the revitalization of the Cidade da Criança and Santa Cruz squares.

In total, the investment will be R$3.1 million. According to Mayor Tião Bocalom, the resource would initially be for just one square. “When we saw the value of the resource, I said it myself at the time, I believe that this money can be used to do more things, we won’t spend it all there. It was said and done, when engineering prepared the project they saw that there was almost two million reais left, that’s when we made the decision and we’re going to optimize the public resource, which is a brand that I’ve had since the time of Acrelandia. For me this is very important and Praça dos Tocos has a great symbolism. I think this square here is fundamental to her recovery,” he said.

The vice-mayor of the capital, Alysson Bestene, highlighted that all efforts related to infrastructure have been made under Bocalom’s management.

“Important works, with all the rigor of detail where we have seen architectures that had never been seen here in the city. Yesterday we inaugurated the Municipal Market, a wonderful architecture, and it is no different from our squares, in our public spaces. We recently revitalized the Povos da Floresta square here, the municipal bar, and now we are going to give this work order for these other squares, which we will deliver within the execution deadline, still with a forecast for the end of the year. Our team is very committed to this process. It is a sequence of work that we will carry out under Mayor Tião Bocalom, which is this administration where we have this energy, which is for the people first”, he highlighted.

According to the deputy secretary of the Municipal Secretariat for Infrastructure and Mobility (), Paulo Araújo, the revitalization will take place in the three public facilities, which are Praça dos Tocos, Praça Santa Cruz and Praça Cidade da Criança.

“The revitalization comes from a parliamentary amendment by former mayor and federal deputy Socorro Neri, and it aims to revitalize the spaces, as well as improving accessibility for all equipment. Here in Praça dos Tocos, for example, the revitalization will be focused on the total accessibility of the square, so that, as it is a central area, it has a set of factors, both for the employees who frequent here, and the tourists who can also arrive here. It will have a complete revitalization, with snack bars with 20 square meters, there will be the revitalization of the bathroom and everything else. There will also be Praça Santa Cruz and Cidade da Criança, which all come from this parliamentary amendment. The total contribution from the municipality will be R$ 225 thousand, and the total investment will be R$ 3.1 million”, he said.

Also according to the deputy secretary, the revitalization projects are in the approval phase by the Ministry of Defense, through Calha Norte. “As soon as it is released, the tender is published. The deadline for the work, as it involves revitalizing the square, is a very short execution period, lasting from 90 to 180 days”, he explained.

Roberto da Princesinha, owner of the traditional restaurant located in Praça dos Tocos, highlighted the importance of revitalizing the space. “It is very important to have this revitalized, renovated, organized, beautiful square as people want it to be. And here in this space, children play here at night. At night there is a different clientele. People come for dinner, there is the whole family and the kids play,” he said.
