A high school student from Covilhã is standing out internationally in the field of space and is getting closer and closer to a possible future at NASA.
Her name is Lua Afonso, she is 17 years old and won the European phase of the Space Design Competition, considered one of the biggest global space design and engineering competitions for young people.
The competition challenges students to work as real aerospace industry teams, developing complete space colony projects in extreme environments.
With several distinctions already achieved, the young woman from Covilha asserts herself as a promising talent and will now be able to move on to the international stage, in the United States, taking another step towards a career in the aerospace sector.
