Acre creates program to encourage black people to enter the judiciary

The government sanctioned a complementary law that institutes an affirmative action program aimed at encouraging the participation of black people in the judiciary. The measure seeks to increase diversity in the Justice system and promote greater equity in access to legal careers.

The text was published on this Wednesday, 25th, and changes existing legislation to allow the creation of specific training initiatives aimed at self-declared black and brown civil servants interested in entering the judiciary.

Furthermore, the standard provides that the program can be implemented through agreements with educational institutions or even with reimbursement of expenses related to the training of participants. The proposal is to reduce historical barriers to accessing the career.

However, the law establishes that the amounts eventually paid will be compensatory in nature, that is, they will not be incorporated into the employees’ remuneration nor used as a basis for social security calculations.

On this occasion, the government highlighted that the initiative follows national guidelines aimed at promoting racial equality in public service. Therefore, the program appears as a strategy to encourage qualification and increase the presence of black people in the Acre judiciary.
