The MDB says it will maintain the candidacy for the government of Rio de Grande do Sul by the current deputy, Gabriel Souza, even if () remains in office until the end of the term.
In a video released this Tuesday (24), the current governor stated that he will fulfill his mandate until the end. As a result, Souza would not take over the government, nor would he be able to run for re-election in office, which could hinder his chances.
The MDB’s hope is that Leite will be able to transfer votes to his vice-president. “He [Souza] is growing. Eduardo as an electoral leader is strong in the state”, said the party’s national president, Baleia Rossi.
The Rio Grande do Sul election promises to be very competitive, with a strong right-wing candidacy, from federal deputy Zucco (PL), and a name from the left, which could be Juliana Brizola (PDT) or Edegar Pretto (PT).
