PL’s oldest deputy leaves after Moro’s arrival – 03/25/2026 – Panel

The senator’s affiliation with the PL caused the party’s oldest federal deputy to leave the party.

Fernando Giacobo, who is in his sixth term, when the senator’s entry into the party was made official.

“It’s an act of coherence, which has always been the hallmark of my mandate. It’s an act of someone who keeps their word”, says Giacobo.

According to him, the PL’s commitment, endorsed by former president Jair Bolsonaro himself during a visit to the state in March last year, was to support the candidate chosen by the governor. (PSD) to his succession.

“If the PL’s national leadership decided to breach the agreement, I can’t do anything”, says the deputy.

He says he hasn’t yet decided which party he should join, but it will be one from Ratinho’s base. His political project is to run for another term as federal deputy.

According to Giacobo, even leaving the PL, he continues to support the (PL). “I’m a right-wing man, this is in my DNA. I’m anti-Lula, Lula today is an expired product”, he states.

He also praises Ratinho Jr.’s decision to withdraw from his candidacy. “The governor’s attitude is noble, of someone who is thinking about Brazil”, he declares.
