According to two influential figures in the party, Leite has balanced the game since he spoke with Kassab, on Wednesday (25), and the Goiano’s favoritism is no longer so evident.
A leader says that both are now on an equal footing and that the chief is carrying out internal consultations to announce his decision by Tuesday (31), as he promised.
In the first hours after, on Monday (23), Caiado emerged as the favorite.
The option for him is not ruled out, but Kassab has been sensitive to arguments that the gaucho would be better able to present himself as a legitimate third way, with a centrist speech, which would help the party to differentiate itself from the Lula-Flávio Bolsonaro polarization.
Caiado would be another right-winger in a situation that is already congested in this segment, with the candidacies of Flávio, Romeu Zema (Novo), Renan Santos (Missão) and Aldo Rebelo (DC).
