Each of them knows perfectly well that proper growth requires regular and appropriate fertilization. Fertilizers applied in spring are particularly important. They influence the entire growing season, strengthen the root system and stimulate better yield.
Blueberries are perfect for gardens because, like the popular April shrubs, they grow best in acidic soil with a pH of 3.8 to 4.4. It can successfully grow near azaleas, hydrangeas and rhododendrons. It is worth remembering that the substrate is crucial in the growth processes of blueberries. Too alkaline soil will limit the growth of the bush, which will not be able to absorb the necessary nutrients from it. In such a situation, the leaves will begin to turn yellow and wither. At pH above 6, plant growth is completely inhibited.
Recipe for homemade blueberry fertilizer. Use it regularly and the bushes will bear fruit
There is no need to use purchased conditioners. Homemade fertilizers that you prepare yourself will be sufficient. One of such fertilizers is slurry made from coniferous organic waste. Coniferous trees acidify the soil very well and last for a long time. All you need to do is collect a bucket of pine needles and a small amount of oak leaves (they contain tannins that slightly acidify the soil and are rich in carbon). The whole thing should be poured with water, preferably rainwater, and then pressed down with a stone. Place the prepared container in a cool, shaded place for about 10 days. After this time, the fertilizer should format and be ready for use. Dilution is required before applying it to plants. Add one liter of water to one liter of fertilizer. Water the blueberry bushes with this mixture throughout the season. Manure from pine needles and oak leaves will provide valuable nutrients. They will be taken directly from the soil, and blueberries will have constant access to them.
