Tebet defends that Alckmin continues as vice president

In her affiliation with the PSB to run for the Senate in 2026, the minister said that “in a team that is winning, you don’t move” and defended a repeat of the Lula-Alckmin double

The Minister of Planning and Budget, (PSB), said this Friday (27th March 2026) that he supports the continuation of (PSB) as vice-president of (PT) in the 2026 elections. On Monday, Alckmin the possibility of running for the Senate is open.

“I defend today that the vice-president continues. The team that is winning does not move in the position of vice-president, of pre-candidate for vice-president of the Republic alongside President Lula”the minister told journalists at an event involving her affiliation with the PSB, at the Legislative Assembly of the State of São Paulo.

Geraldo Alckmin was present at the event and celebrated Tebet’s arrival at the party.

“Simone, we are happier because the participation of women in Brazilian politics is increasing. Welcome, Simone Tebet. We are happy and honored to welcome you”, said Alckmin in a speech on the stage.

Tebet will run for senator in 2026 on the government ticket. The other vacancy remains open. The names considered are the Minister of the Environment (Rede) and the Minister of Entrepreneurship (PSB), who was present at the event. On Monday (23rd March), Alckmin opened up the possibility of competing.

In a speech on the stage, Tebet called the governor (Republicans), a pre-candidate for re-election, ungrateful for President Lula’s achievements in the State of SP.

São Paulo is not on the right path. Unfortunately, São Paulo has an absolutely ungrateful government, because if today there is cash in the State it is because there is a President of the Republic who does not look at party issues, who resolved the debts and allowed subsidized financing with guarantees from the Union”, said Tebet.

The minister leaves the MDB after 29 years, which was her only party throughout her political career, to join the PSB in São Paulo.

She is from Mato Grosso do Sul. In the state, she was a state deputy, mayor of Três Lagoas, government secretary, vice-governor and senator. The minister leaves the MDB after 29 years, which was her only party throughout her political career.
