In an anti-system tone, the senator stated that, if elected, he will also fight against the ‘interests of global elites’
In one of more conservative speeches Since announcing his intention to run for President, Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) adopted this Saturday (28) one anti-system tone and stated that, if elected, he will fight against what he called the “radical environmentalist agenda”, the “woke agenda” and against the “interests of global elites”.
Flavio too defined himself as “Bolsonaro 2.0” and said that his father, former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL), faced the “tyranny of Covid”.
“He, Jair Bolsonaro, fought against drug cartels. He fought against the interests of the global elite, against the radical environmental agenda, against the woke agenda that destroyed families, but above all he fought for freedom. My father was also an ally of Donald Trump and the last world leader to recognize Joe Biden, former US president, as president”, said the senator.
As statements were made at the conservative Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) eventin the United States, known for bringing together names from the conservative right-wing camp, and come at a time when the senator has been trying to adopt a more moderate speech, in order to attract the support of Centrão and the financial market.
Flávio began his speech by showing photos of when his father, Jair Bolsonaro, visited American President Donald Trump, at the White House, in 2019, and stated that today his father is imprisoned in a process similar to the one that Trump went through.
“The formal accusation is similar to what President Donald Trump faced. But the real reason is the same. My country’s greatest political leader is in prison for defending our conservative values without fear and for opposing the system with everything he had,” said Flávio Bolsonaro.
Flavio said that Jair Bolsonaro was arrested by the same people who took away the current Brazilian presidentLuiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), from prison. “The same people who arrested my father took this man, the former socialist president Lula, convicted several times for corruption, out of prison and put him back in the presidency. All this under a flood of money and massive interference from the Biden administration. The result? Brazil is experiencing another devastating economic crisis. A public security crisis with enormous expansion of narco-terrorism cartels and multiple corruption scandals involving even members of Lula’s family.”
Critical Minerals
O pre-candidate also spoke about critical mineral lands, and highlighted that America still depends on China for around 70% of imports of rare earth products, with the Asian country controlling 70% of global mining and more than 90% of refining and processing, according to Flávio Bolsonaro.
“Why does this matter? These rare earths are essential to computer processors and the artificial intelligence revolution that is transforming our world and American defense equipment. Without these components, American technological innovation becomes impossible. And the production of advanced military system that maintains American superiority falls into the hands of adversaries. Without them, America’s technological revolution stagnates and national security becomes vulnerable,” said Flavio Bolsonaro. Brazil is the solution to end the US’s dependence on China for critical minerals, he highlighted.
At the end of the speech, Flávio criticized Lula againsaying that the current president of Brazil is anti-American. “Lula and his party are openly anti-American. He speaks publicly about undermining the dollar as a global currency. He has allied Brazil with China on a large scale. He has opposed American interests on every foreign policy item,” he said.
