Vienna – Electricity will be cheaper for many households from Wednesday: As part of the Electricity Industry Act, the social tariff of 6 cents per kilowatt hour net will be introduced on April 1st. Around 290,000 households or around 600,000 people will benefit from the social tariff, the Ministry of Economic Affairs referred on Sunday to the regulation decided last year. The social tariff does not have to be applied for separately, but is automatically taken into account by the provider.
