The Brazilian team’s last two friendlies before the World Cup changed their “meaning”, according to Carlo Ancelotti. The coach’s idea was to test the starting team with an eye on the World Cup, but the route had to be recalculated due to injuries that occurred and caused absences for the Seleção.
In total, Ancelotti had ten problems due to: Alisson, Wesley, Éder Militão, Gabriel Magalhães, Marquinhos, Alex Sandro, Bruno Guimarães, Estêvão, Rodrygo and Raphinha. The majority, it is worth mentioning, play an important role in the team.
“The objective for these two games against France and Croatia was to test the starting team, but the starting team is not there because we had a lot of injuries. So we took the opportunity to test players who never came. We had a good feeling about these players, it increases the competition for the final list obviously. But the idea was not to test in these games, it was to try to use the most starting team possible”, explained Ancelotti.
“It was not possible because of the injuries, we had to look for another way. I repeat, we are in the correct process, we need calm, quality. Criticism is also absolutely normal. Because I am clear that the most important thing is the result. But there are more important and less important results. For us, the most important result now is the first game of the World Cup”, he concluded.
After the Brazilian team faces Croatia at Camping World Stadium, in Orlando, United States. The ball rolls at 9pm (Brasília time).
