She’s back. But only to one city
After more than six years away from music, Céline Dion announced her return to the stage this Monday. The singer will perform in Paris – and only in Paris – from September, in a series of 10 shows that promises to bring together thousands of fans and mark the end of a long absence.
Official confirmation arrived through a video published on social media, in which the artist revealed some details of her reunion with the Parisian public.
“Over the past few years, every day I have felt your prayers and support, kindness and love. You have helped me in ways I can’t even describe and I am truly grateful to have your support,” she begins by saying in the video.
“This year I am receiving the best birthday present of my life. I will have the opportunity to see you, to perform for you once again, in Paris, starting in September.”
The first clues of a possible return came when the singer, of Canadian origin, performed the song Hymne à l’amour, by Édith Piaf, at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games, rekindling the hope that she would be returning.
The announcement coincided with the singer’s birthday: she turns 58 this Monday.
