Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) threatened on Tuesday that if more top Iranian officials are killed in “targeted assassinations”, they will retaliate by attacking US tech giants such as Apple, Google and Meta and other companies operating in the Middle East region from April 1. TASR informs about it based on reports from Reuters and AFP.
Since US companies in the field of information and communication technology and artificial intelligence play a “significant role in the selection and tracking of attack targets” on Iran, according to the IRGC, they will henceforth be considered “legitimate targets” of retaliatory attacks, the Revolutionary Guards said in a statement carried by the Tasnim agency.
Call to leave workplaces
These legitimate targets are 18 US companies operating in the Middle East. They are Cisco, HP, Intel, Oracle, Microsoft, Apple, Google, Meta, IBM, Dell, Planter, Nvidia, JP Morgan, Tesla, GE, Spire Solutions, G42 and Boeing.
“These companies should expect their premises to be destroyed in retaliation for any act of terrorism committed in Iran, beginning Wednesday, April 1, at 8:00 p.m. Tehran time (6:30 p.m. CEST),” the statement said.
The guards advised the employees of the mentioned companies to leave their workplaces immediately in order to survive. They also called on residents in all countries of the region living within a radius of one kilometer from the headquarters of American companies to move to a safe place.
The Reuters agency noted that the Revolutionary Guards have also published similar threats in the past, but they were not always followed by concrete actions. However, the April 1 deadline gives the latest warning significantly more weight.
