Lower Austria triggers consultation mechanism on “care from day one”.


St. Pölten/Vienna – The state of Lower Austria is triggering the consultation mechanism between the federal and state governments due to the planned new custody rules for unaccompanied minor refugees. The federal state would be hit by the “main part of the burden” because “due to the eastern border, the Schwechat airport and the initial reception center in Traiskirchen, a particularly high pressure is felt when accepting refugees,” emphasized ÖVP club chairman Kurt Hackl, as well as the Crown newspaper reported.
