A group suspected of trying to embezzle almost R$900 million from the inheritance of the businessman João Carlos Di Geniofounder of Unip/Objective group, is the target of an MPSP operation (Public Ministry of São Paulo), this Tuesday morning (31).
The action, in conjunction with the São Paulo Civil Police, fulfills nine preventive arrest warrants and 15 search and seizure warrants. According to the MP, the criminal scheme was aimed at committing crimes of embezzlement, corruption and procedural fraud.
The agency points out that those investigated have a long criminal history and that they used false documents and simulation of arbitration proceedings, with the aim of giving a legal appearance to undue million-dollar charges.
Still according to the Public Ministry, three months before Di Genio’s death, in February 2022, the criminals had forged documents, with false signatures, claiming that the businessman had signed a property purchase and sale contract worth millions of dollars.
As a way of trying to validate the charge, the suspects would have used a phone call fictional arbitration chamberFonamsp (International and National Business and Finance Forum for Arbitration and Mediation Ltd).
The investigations showed that the scheme was set up with testimonies from non-existent witnesses and false signatures, which created a false debt without the knowledge of Di Genio’s family.
Among the main targets of this morning’s operation (31) are Anani Candido de Lara and Luiz Teixeira da Silva Junior, both linked to Colonizadora Planalto Paulista and the arbitration chamber.
The MP points out that the group tried to collect the debt directly in the inventory process, by presenting false documents to the Court. The values, which initially revolved around R$600 million, were updated by those investigated to an almost billion-dollar amount, spinning around R$845 million.
In addition to the warrants, measures were taken to sequester and block goods and financial assets, aimed at interrupting illicit activities, preserving evidence and repairing the damage caused.
