Nvidia announced that it has invested US$2 billion in semiconductor company Marvell Technology, entering into a partnership to expand artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure development options for customers. In a statement published this Tuesday, 31, Nvidia reported that the pact will connect Marvell to AI infrastructures, such as the Nvidia AI Factory and the AI-RAN ecosystem, through Nvidia NVLink Fusion – a rack-scale platform that allows customers to develop semi-custom AI infrastructure.
The companies will also collaborate on silicon photonics technology.
Marvell will provide custom XPUs and scalable networks compatible with NVLink Fusion, while Nvidia will provide supporting technologies including the Vera CPU, ConnectX NICs, BlueField DPUs, NVLink interconnects and Spectrum-X switches, as well as rack-scale AI computing.
Additionally, the companies intend to collaborate to transform the global telecommunications network into AI infrastructure, with Nvidia Aerial AI-RAN for 5G/6G, and to power world-class networks for AI, including advanced optical interconnect solutions and silicon photonics technology.
