PF operation against sentence sales targets former STJ advisor

Agents carry out a search and seizure warrant against Márcio Toledo Pinto and determine whether he acted to hinder the investigation

This Tuesday morning (March 31, 22026), the (Federal Police) carried out a search and seizure warrant against the former advisor of the (Superior Court of Justice) Márcio José Toledo Pinto, investigated for working in a scheme to sell judicial decisions.

Toledo was fired from his position on September 5, 2025, after an internal investigation by the Court, and indicted by the PF in February 2026. Sought by the Poder360 to comment, the defense said that it has not yet had access to the records that supported the PF’s requests.

The operation was authorized by the rapporteur of the case at the (Supreme Federal Court), minister Cristiano Zanin. However, the magistrate denied the investigators’ request to order Toledo’s preventive detention.

The PF is looking for evidence that the former advisor had acted to hinder investigations into the possible sentence sale scheme. In the report sent to the minister in February, he stated that Toledo articulated with businessman Andreson Gonçalves the anticipation of judicial decisions by STJ ministers.

According to investigators, they committed crimes of corruption, exploitation of prestige, violation of functional secrecy and criminal organization. The corporation considered that the evidence indicates that there was isolated action by officials from the cabinet of ministers, without concrete evidence of the participation of magistrates.

On February 24, Zanin gave 30 days for the PF to complete the investigations, which began in November 2024. By extending the deadline for the investigations, he highlighted that he authorized “successive extensions of deadlines for completion” of the case.

Therefore, it is necessary for the Federal Police to present, within 30 days, a conclusive or detailed report, in order to collect an explicit statement regarding possible interest in the investigations, especially with regard to the outlining of investigative hypotheses involving Andreson de Oliveira Gonçalves”stated the minister.

SUSPECTS

Appointed as head of the scheme, Andreson was preventively arrested at the beginning of the investigations, on November 26, 2024. Then, on July 17, 2025, the IML identified a risk to the businessman’s health, in light of rapid weight loss, which required an urgent additional investigation.

In Zanin’s understanding, Andreson lost weight voluntarily. On December 12, the minister decreed new preventive detention of the person being investigated.

The police authority must express its opinion on the indispensability, if applicable, of maintaining preventive custody“, declared the minister. .

To the Poder360Andreson’s defense criticized the decision of the STF panel, saying there was no reason to continue with custody, as the IML report remains valid.
