O Lula government (PT)through the Special Secretariat for Legal Affairs of the Civil House of the Presidency, announced, on the afternoon of this Wednesday (1), the appointment of Jorge Messias to the Federal Supreme Court (STF) to the Senate. The information was confirmed by the House.
The current attorney general of the Union will occupy vacancy left by Luís Roberto Barroso in the STF.
After months of waiting, Lula and the president of the Senate, Davi Alcolumbre (União-AP), reached an agreement to approve the nomination. A Young Pan found that the hearing should take place in the next few days. First, the nomination is voted on by the Constitution and Justice Commission (CCJ). It is then taken to the plenary.
There is still no name defined to replace Messias at AGU. The Federal Government’s idea is to resolve each stage in turn.
