The fire department said that a man in his 50s was found dead under a car in the area of Nea Makri, a rural area north-east of Athens.

Most ferries, a key transport link to the Greek islands, remained in port on Wednesday. Unfavorable weather also affected air transport – several flights to the largest Greek island of Crete had to be diverted due to a sandstorm from the Sahara. The weather is forecast to calm down on Friday.
