A child, 11 years old, was shot in the head with a pellet gun, in the municipality of Augusto Lima, in the Center of Minas Geraisthis Friday (3).
According to the Military Police, she was at an acquaintance’s house with her grandmother and was hit while handling the gun with a teenager13 years old. He reportedly reported that the shooting took place in the moment when he showed what would be a BB gun to the victim.
Due to the severity of the injuries, the child was transferred to a hospital in Curvelo.
After being admitted to the unit, she still had to be taken to a hospital in Belo Horizonte to receive specialized care. The young man, couldn’t provide clarifications for emotional distress issues.
Even after due diligence, the owner of the gun has not yet been located. The child’s mother and grandmother accompany him to the hospital.
The case was forwarded to the Civil Police of Minas Gerais, responsible for investigating the incident. THE CNN Brazil contacted the corporation for more details on the case and is awaiting a response.
