Artemis II astronauts “lick the spoon” during space meal

Right now, astronauts from the Artemis II mission are inside the Orion capsule on the way to reach the Moon’s orbit.

And during the journey, NASA released images of the astronauts’ “meal time”.

More than two days after the start of the mission, “hunger” seems to have reached the astronauts, who took advantage of the “calm” moment to eat.

NASA’s Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover and Christina Koch, and Canadian Space Agency astronaut Jeremy Hansen — are inside the Orion capsule.

Look here NASA’s real-time tracking.

In total, the menu has 189 different items and more than 10 types of drinks, including coffee, green tea, smoothies and flavored drinks. Among the most common foods are tortillas, wheat flatbread, vegetable quiche, breakfast sausage, couscous with nuts, mango salad, blueberry granola, meats, vegetables and pasta.

The menu also includes sweet options such as pudding, cookies, cakes and chocolate, as well as add-ons such as honey, peanut butter, jelly and cinnamon. To season meals, five types of hot sauce will be taken on the mission.

On a typical day — without considering launch and reentry — astronauts have set times for breakfast, lunch and dinner, including two flavored drinks per day.

On Thursday (2), the ship made the last major boost to the engine, which placed Orion on the correct route.

The spacecraft will now head until it reaches lunar orbit. The astronauts will not set foot on the satellite on this mission, but will bypass the far side of the satellite before returning on the 10th.
