Em said that the measures aim to investigate alleged irregularities in Comte’s tenure as party president, between 2023 and 2025.
The initiatives include a criminal representation to the Federal Public Ministry to investigate signs of irregular management of resources, the practice of acts without legal legitimacy, non-compliance with court decisions and attempts to block the party’s finances.
One of the focuses is the Astrogildo Pereira Foundation, linked to Cidadania. According to Manente, there are signs of irregular functioning, receipt of resources in violation of party norms and governance failures.
The deputy also said that he will file representation with the party’s Ethics Council against the rival group, in addition to legal measures to compensate for losses and action for moral damages.
“They tried to take sides, they tried to silence legality and even financially suffocate the institution. And they failed,” said Manente.
He also announced that he will file a police report against Bittencourt for continuing to present himself as president of the party, which he classified as “ideological falsehood”.
The two wings are fighting over party command, with mutual accusations of violation of the statute and irregularities in the calling of internal congresses. Since the beginning of the year, the groups have been promoting a war of lawsuits.
The background is the political orientation of the party. Manente and the former president of Cidadania Roberto Freire defend alignment with the opposition, with the formation of a federation with the PSDB, while Bittencourt’s wing supports the Lula government.
