According to local Iranian media, the bombing did not cause damage to the main parts of the facility located in Bushehr.
The USA and Israel carried out a joint air strike near the Bushehr nuclear plant (Iran) this Saturday morning (Apr 4, 2926). At least one person died. According to the official Iranian news agency IRNA, the victim was a security agent at the plant, who was hit by a fragment of the projectile.
According to local media, the bombing did not cause damage to the main parts of the facility. A nearby building, however, was affected by shock waves and fragments. The IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) declared in its no. “there was no increase in radiation levels”.
The agency’s general director, Rafael Grossi, expressed “deep concern” with the incident and said that facilities [nucleares] or nearby areas should never be attacked. It stated that auxiliary buildings may contain vital safety equipment.
Grossi also reiterated a “call for maximum military restraint to avoid the risk of a nuclear accident”.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that the Bushehr facility “they have been bombed 4 times since the start of the war”.
