The former governor of Goiás and pre-candidate for President for the PSD, Ronaldo Caiado, stated this Monday (6) that “PT stole Brazil’s future”. The statement was given during an interview with Jornal da Manhã, from Jovem Pan Newswhere the politician detailed his plans for the electoral race, defended amnesty to former president Jair Bolsonaro as a way to end polarization and presented management efficiency as the main way to defeat the Workers’ Party.

“Lula was in power for five PT terms. And what happened? The PT stole Brazil’s future. In addition to other things, it also stole the future of Brazilians.” Caiado highlighted that the lack of responses to the population’s demands made Lulism return in the past, but argued that “good management is an antidote and vaccine against the PT”.

For Caiado, the biggest challenge of the 2026 election is not just beating the PT at the polls — since, according to him, the party “is down” and has lost strength — but ensuring governance that brings concrete results e prevent the return of populism in the future.

What I want is to do what we did in Goiás, in Brazil”, he stated.

He highlighted the achievements of his administration, which include public safetyo first place in Ideb (Basic Education Development Index), advances in technology e innovationin addition to making the state the second in the country with the lowest poverty rate e extreme poverty. The national objective, according to him, will be to reduce the debt of Brazilians, wipe out the state machine e return competitiveness and the international respect to the country.

Regarding the challenge of making his name better known outside the Central-West region to face the presidential race, Caiado countered doubts by remembering that he had already traveled to more than 2,500 municipalities in his political trajectory. He plans intensify travel across the country, participate in forums e actively dialogue with mayors e governors to present the “Goiás model”.
