António José Seguro visits companies affected by the Kristin depression in the Proença-a-Nova Business Park
Mayor of Proença-a-Nova adds that there are situations reported in photographs… that do not exist.
Thousands of families were affected by successive storms in January. Many asked support because they need to – but others take advantage of the situation.
The President of the City Council of Proença-a-Nova it is (more) a mayor warning that there is fraud in these requests for support: “The process is progressing, now reasonably well. Unfortunately, I have to note this too, because it is important: in the validation of requests, it has been detected lots of fraud to the system.”
Examples: “A coverage has a thousand euros and they say it’s 5 thousand. There are even reported situations of situations that don’t exist, that are photographsand this also raises some concern for us. Help is to be given and is being given, but it has to be fair, assertive and quantitative help in relation to the damage”.
The Chamber immediately did “very important” work. On the second day we put teams on the ground checking everything and, therefore, it was a priority work that we did and we understood the situations well”, he described.
In a radio interview, João Lobo confirms that the local loss is around 20 million euros.
However, there is a relevant concern: the forest and the “harsh” summer that comes: “It forces everyone, in fact, to be more careful. This is an appeal that I also make to ordinary citizens when going to the forest, burning, the use of fire, must be reduced to a minimum.”
