A structural readjustment was necessary in a section of the viaduct works, in Rio Branco, after the identification of a leak in an underground reservoir in the area in front of the Colégio de Aplicação. According to the government of Acre, the situation was detected at the beginning of the rainy season and required changes in the execution of the project.
According to the official statement, “the need for readjustment was identified at the beginning of the rainy season, when it was discovered that there was a leaking underground reservoir, which had not been previously reported, which increased the presence of water in the area.” The text also points out that, associated with intense rains, the scenario “impacted piles that were still in the construction phase and without the crowning beam, responsible for the stability of the system”.

Therefore, it was necessary to remove the compromised piles. A concrete retaining wall is being built at the site. According to the government, this is the “most appropriate containment solution for current soil conditions”.
Also according to the note, all structures were technically evaluated. “Those that could be used were corrected, while the others were replaced with the new solution”, informs the statement.
The government also stated that the intervention does not change the deadline for the work. “The service does not change the work schedule. This stage of the Avenida Ceará Road Complex viaduct is scheduled for delivery in July, along with the four loops”, says another excerpt.
With the improvement in weather conditions, services are progressing normally, without compromising the progress of the work, according to the state Executive.
