BRASILIA, 8 April (Reuters) – The Minister of Finance, Dario Durigan, said this Wednesday that, amid the effort to deal with the indebtedness of individuals and companies in the country, the government is also committed to ‘extending a line’ to the agricultural sector.
After meeting with Senate leaders, Durigan considered that the sector has suffered losses from climate events and now also from the war in the Middle East.
The minister said that the government heard from the sector complaints about the operational deficiencies of the credit line for rural producers established by provisional measure issued in September last year, and that it will ‘provide a response’, presenting a proposal to the Senate.
‘We have a commitment here to, within this effort to deal with debt, also extend a hand, also extend a line, to the country’s agricultural sector,’ Durigan told reporters, adding that the government has ‘a few weeks’ to move forward with the issue.
