José Roberto Maciel, partner and CEO of OnlyUp, a payment solutions company for the betting market, said this Wednesday (April 8, 2026) that Pix strengthens the safe betting market in Brazil. He made the statement during an interview with Poder360 at BiS SiGMA South America 2026, one of the main iGaming, bettech and sports betting events in Latin America, held in São Paulo from April 6th to 9th.
“Brazilian regulation was very happy. It demanded that the only way to transact, to deposit with an operator to bet, have fun, be entertained and redeem the result, was Pix”, Maciel said.
According to the CEO of OnlyUp, focusing on just one payment method made monitoring more effective.
“By abandoning any other means of payment, this means that there is very strong monitoring, especially because serious operators are concerned about complying with all money laundering, anti-fraud and anti-terrorism rules. I think that the payment method occupies a very important and relevant space, because through it you can provide traceability”, said the CEO.
