Trump postpones deadline for opening Hormuz and suspends attacks on Iran for 2 weeks

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, announced on his social network Truth Social the postponement of the deadline for negotiations with Iran and the suspension of attacks for two weeks on Tuesday night (7).

Trump had set a 48-hour deadline for Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz and the deadline would end at 9 pm (Brasília time) this Tuesday. In a post on his social network, Trump said he made the decision in conversations with Pakistani officials.

“We received a 10-point proposal from Iran and believe it is a viable basis for negotiation,” the president said in the post.

Based on conversations with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir of Pakistan, in which they requested that I suspend the destructive force that would be sent tonight to Iran, and provided that the Islamic Republic of Iran agrees to the COMPLETE, IMMEDIATE AND SAFE OPENING of the Strait of Hormuz, I agree to suspend bombing and attacking Iran for a period of two weeks. This will be a two-way Ceasefire!

The reason for this is that we have already met and exceeded all military objectives and are very advanced on a definitive Agreement for long-term PEACE with Iran and PEACE in the Middle East. We received a 10-point proposal from Iran and believe it is a viable basis for negotiation. Almost all of the various points of contention of the past have been settled between the United States and Iran, but a two-week period will allow the Agreement to be finalized and consummated.
