Dozens dead in Beirut. Iran prepares attack “after Israel’s violation of the ceasefire in Lebanon and against Hezbollah”.

The US President stated that the ceasefire agreement between Iran and the United States does not apply to Lebanon, although Pakistan, the mediating country, initially stated that the agreement covered Lebanese territory.

“They [Líbano] were not included in the agreement”, these Donald Trump, arguing that this front of the conflict in the Middle East is not covered by the ceasefire due to the pro-Iranian Shiite movement Hezbollah, in statements on the “News Hour” program on the North American public radio station PBS, cited by international agencies.

When the two-week ceasefire was held, the Prime Minister of Pakistan (the mediating country in the conflict), Shehbaz Sharif, said that the ceasefire applied “everywhere, including in Lebanon and elsewhere”.

But this version was denied by the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The Israeli Government assured that Lebanon is outside the agreement.

Now, in addition to Donald Trump, also Caroline Leavitt, White House spokesperson commented that Lebanon is not included in the agreement.

Iran prepares

When asked if he agreed that Israel continued its attacks on Lebanon, Trump responded that it is a “conflict apart”.

Throughout this Wednesday, there were several air strikes of Israel, which reached the center of Beirut, capital of Lebanon. Dozens of people died.

Iran suspended oil tanker traffic through the Strait of Hormuzaccording to Iranian media, following these attacks.

An Iranian security official later said in the Fars agency that the Iran is prepare to carry out operations against military positions in Israel – after ‘violation of ceasefire by Israel in Lebanon and against Hezbollah’.

“The belief is spreading in Tehran that the continued attacks, despite the agreement, are a sign of the United States’ inability to control Netanyahu or that Israel has been given freedom of action by the US Central Command,” the same source continued.
