The Czech Republic wants to keep the Dukovany nuclear power plant running longer

Dukovany/Vienna – The Czech Republic wants to keep its oldest nuclear power plant at the Dukovany site running for up to 80 years. Industry and Trade Minister Karel Havlicek announced this on Thursday in Prague. The four reactor units of the Soviet type VVER-440/213 went online between 1985 and 1987. This would allow them to produce electricity between 2065 and 2067. Environmentalists, including from Austria, consider the existing VVER 440/213 system to be outdated and dangerous.
