The Slovak Film and Television Academy (SFTA) announced on Thursday in Bratislava the winners of the national film award Sun in the Network for the year 2025. While the nominations reflected the predominance of one film, in the end it was a very balanced battle between three films from last year – Potopa, Otec and Nepela.
Otec became the best feature film. He also won awards for Best Film Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Film Music and Best Actor in a Leading Role.
The film Potopa won the most awards. In the categories Best Film Screenplay, Best Film Sound, Best Set Design, Best Female Performance in a Leading Role, Best Male Performance in a Supporting Role and the Audience Award for the most popular Slovak film for 2025. The film Nepela, which received the most, up to 13 nominationshe finally converted three of them into victory. The experts were most interested in the Best Film Editing, Best Costumes and Best Visual Effects categories.
The film Duchoň turned into a win from the nomination in the Best Artistic Masks category. One award in the Best Supporting Actress category was also won by the film Caravan. The Moloch miniseries was awarded as the Best TV Movie/Miniseries/Seriesaward The best documentary film was won by the documentary I’d rather go crazy in the wild a the prize in the Best Animated Film category was taken over by the creative team of the film Tales from the Magic Garden.
The award in the Best Short Feature or Documentary Film category was won by the film How to Listen to the Fountains produced by the Film and Television Faculty of the University of Performing Arts in Bratislava and directed by Eva Sajanová. Playwright, screenwriter, and internationally acclaimed pedagogue Zuzana Gindl-Tatárová became the laureate of the Prize for exceptional contribution to Slovak audiovisual culture.who 20 years ago was the founder of the national film awards Slnko v sieti.
