The president’s government (PT) began, this Friday (April 10, 2026), the payment of R$ 1.3 million in the 1st batch of Reconstruction Aid. In total, 179 families affected by the rains in Minas Gerais benefited with R$7,300.
Payments are made by Caixa Econômica. It is expected that another 11,000 families will benefit in future batches.
In March, Lula signed Provisional Measure No. 1,342 of 2026, allocating for response and reconstruction in regions affected by intense rain. The priority is Minas Gerais municipalities affected in February and March 2026, but other locations in the country will also receive resources.
Suas (Unified Social Assistance System) in Minas Gerais will receive R$5 million. The values will support social protection in emergency situations and public calamities. The measure will also contribute to structuring and expanding social assistance services in the affected municipalities.
The Residential Lease Fund in Minas Gerais will have quota payments worth R$500 million. The measure will enable the contracting of 2,500 housing units. The objective is to guarantee decent housing for families who lost their homes.
The Operations Guarantee Fund will receive R$300 million. The amounts will facilitate access to credit for individuals and companies affected by climate events in February and March 2026 across the country. The initiative aims to support the recovery of small businesses and local economic activities.
Credit operations aimed at mitigating and adapting to climate change will receive R$500 million. The values will also be applied to face the social and economic consequences of public calamities across the country.
