Enel and Nunes management fight over tree pruning rates – 04/10/2026 – Panel

In a constant war of numbers, the City and City Council also disagree on the amount of tree pruning carried out in the capital.

The topic was explored by the municipality’s attorney general, Luciana Sant’Ana Nardi, in , as an example of management’s complaints () with the concessionaire, on Tuesday (7).

At the time, (interruption) of the company’s concession contract.

In 2025, of the 282 thousand trees pending pruning and removal of branches from the electricity grid, Enel says it carried out services on 248 thousand of them by the end of December.

However, the Nunes management refutes the numbers and says that the concessionaire, “even without meeting the target, presented documents with errors, such as the classification of native trees as exotic, in addition to incomplete information, especially about the score and assessment of the risk of falling”.

According to the Secretariat of Subprefectures, Enel carried out only 34,583 interventions, equivalent to 12% of the total planned. “The City of São Paulo reiterates that Enel provides a terrible service”, says the Nunes management.

Enel, in turn, says that there are documents that prove the pruning of 248 thousand trees and reports that the city hall suffered, in 2025, a breakdown in its programs.

“The city hall’s computer system faced technical problems and was unable to access the electronic record data on tree pruning carried out, maintained by the concessionaire”, says Enel. “The technical problems with the city hall system were only resolved in 2026.”

According to the agreement signed between the city hall and Enel, the concessionaire is the one who pruns trees that are in contact with the electricity grid.
