Parliamentary elections in Hungary were briefly interrupted on Sunday afternoon due to bomb threats in the cities of Pécs and Miškovec. According to the server index.hu, the police with dogs searched the buildings with polling stations and the voting was suspended for the time being, informs the correspondent of TASR in Budapest.
The threat concerned three polling stations in Miškovec in the Géza Gárdonyi Cultural Center. The interruption lasted about half an hour, the dogs did not find any explosives. There was a similar situation in Pécs with polling stations in the health center on Lánc Street.
The elections are accompanied by a record turnout – more than 74 percent of eligible voters voted already after 5 p.m., which is the highest turnout the country has seen since the regime change in 1989.
