How was the game

The first half was balanced, with many disputes and physical clashes, in a typical classic scenario. The two teams found it difficult to build plays, which left the match truncated and with few clear chances of scoring.

Internacional’s only shot on target was also the best opportunity of the stage, in the 18th minute. After a mistake by Gustavo Martins when the ball was released, Vitinho regained possession and played Borré on the right. The striker finished well, but Weverton made a great save.

Grêmio also had little creativity and failed to finish on goal throughout the first half. The home team ended the first half with a slight superiority in ball possession, with 51% against 49% for the visitor.

In the second half, Internacional created the first chance in the 7th minute. Vitinho served Carbonero at the edge of the penalty area, and the attacker risked a strong shot, but sent it out.

Grêmio responded in the 13th minute and almost opened the scoring. After a corner kick, Rochet saved Viery’s shot and, on the rebound, Nardoni had the opportunity, but went over the goal.

In the 27th minute, Weverton looked good again. Alerrandro came face to face with the goalkeeper and tried to head it, but was stopped by another good save. In the next move, Vitinho regained the ball in the middle, advanced towards the goal and finished low, but the goalkeeper kept the ball again, keeping the score unchanged.

The situation became complicated for Grêmio when, in the 43rd minute, Viery was sent off after a hard tackle on Thiago Maia, hitting the opponent’s leg.
