Botafogo e Coritiba drew 2-2 this Sunday (12) in a match played at the Nilton Santos Stadium, valid for the 11th round of the Brazilian Championship.
The confrontation was marked by alternations in the scoreboard and emotion until the final minutes, with Coritiba opening the scoring in the first half and Botafogo managing to turn things around in the second half, before the team from Paraná sought equality.
The first goal of the match came in the 33rd minute of the first half, when Breno Lopes finished with precision after a pass from Josué in a counterattack well executed by Coritiba.
In the second half, coach Martín Anselmi promoted changes at Botafogo that had an immediate effect on the team’s attitude.
In the 9th minute of the final stage, Danilo equalized for Botafogo with a beautiful goal, after receiving it from Vitinho in the center of the area and spinning with skill before finishing without a chance for goalkeeper Pedro Rangel.
The black and white turning point came in the 32nd minute, when Arthur Cabral took advantage of the space in the area to put Botafogo ahead on the scoreboard.
The joy of the Botafogo fans, however, lasted just three minutes, as Joaquín Lavega, who had just entered, equalized the score in the 35th minute after Lucas Villalba failed in defensive coverage.
The match numbers show Botafogo’s territorial dominance, which shot 20 times on goal (7 on target), compared to Coritiba’s 14 shots (5 on target).
Ball possession was also largely in favor of the home team, who controlled 57% of the actions against 43% for the visitors.
The duel had moments of tension in the final minutes, with yellow cards distributed to both sides and even a red card for a member of Coritiba’s technical committee for excessive complaints.
