The first pope from the United States spoke on board the plane about the criticism directed at him by Trump. In a post on the social network on Monday night, the latter reproached him for being too “liberal” and “not doing his job well”. This came after the top official of the Catholic Church called for peace in the Middle East on Saturday.
“I don’t want to get into a polemic with him,” said Leo XIV. for Reuters. “I do not think that the message of the Gospel should be abused as some people do. I will continue to speak loudly against war and try to promote peace, dialogue and multilateral relations between states in order to find just solutions to problems.” he pointed out. According to him, too many people around the world are suffering and someone must stand up for them.
