Actress Marta Sládečková became this year’s laureate of the prestigious Kvet Tálie award at the Anička Jurkovičová Festival (FAJ) in Nové Mesto nad Váhom. She received the award on Sunday (April 12) before the ceremonial opening of the 27th year of the all-Slovak show of non-professional theater groups. The city of Nové Mesto nad Váhom informed about it on its website.
The Flower of Tálie award ceremony has been a part of the festival since 2002. It is awarded to important Slovak actresses for their contribution to theater art. The award gradually became one of the most important moments of the festival and a symbolic thank you to the actresses who made a significant mark in the history of Slovak theatre.
Among the laureates of the Kvet Tálie award are, for example, Katarína Kolníková, Ida Rapaičová, Eva Kristínová, Emília Došeková, Kamila Magálová, Zdena Studenková, Oľga Zöllnerová and other important personalities of the Slovak theater.
Every year, the Anička Jurkovičová Festival brings to the audience a show of volunteer and professional theater art. The festival was founded in 1998 as a tribute to Anica Jurkovičová, a native of Novi Sad, who is considered one of the first Slovak actresses. Thematically, the festival also focuses on the position of women in the theater and in society, which symbolically links to the personality of Anička Jurkovičová and her importance for the Slovak theater industry.
