Children of displaced teachers teaching in schools in areas with the greatest shortage of teachers have a guaranteed school transfer from the next school year, as is already the case with doctors.
The measure is foreseen in a normative order, published this Tuesday in the Official Gazette of the Union, which changes the registration and renewal procedures for the 2026/2027 academic year.
Similar to what already happens with the children of doctors placed in needy areas, school transfers will also be guaranteed for the children of displaced kindergarten teachers and teachers who are placed in schools located in areas considered to be in need.
Another of the changes, aimed at the military, introduces a quota of 5% of existing vacancies in public and private preschool education establishments with a protocol with the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation (MECI) for “minors in the care of military personnel under contract, special contract or volunteering” during the provision of effective service.
In preschool and basic education, a priority in the placement provided for students with siblings attending the same educational establishment is extended to the entire group of schools.
There is a reorganization of the priority list
In secondary, there is a reorganization of the list of priorities for registration or renewal.
After students with specific educational needs, priority is given to students who, in the previous academic year, attended an educational establishment within the same group of schools.
According to the diploma, students who in the previous academic year attended a group without offering secondary education or whose household’s area of residence does not offer secondary education are also included in the second priority “as long as they apply to the educational establishment that serves, in secondary education, the same area of influence”.
The deadline for carrying out the Registration starts on April 22nd for pre-school and 1st year of basic education and runs until June 1st.
From the 2nd year onwards, renewal of enrollment is only mandatory for students who in the following academic year will enter the 5th, 7th, 10th or 12th years, or those who wish to change schools, training courses, choose subjects or change the person in charge.
In these cases, the Registration takes place between June 16th and 29th for grades 6 to 9 and 11, followed by grades 2 to 5 between July 1 and 13 and grades 10 and 12 between July 15 and 22.
